The Global Knowledge Network (GKN) Funding initiative strengthens HKUST’s strategic partnerships with leading international institutions by catalyzing collaborative, high‑impact research. Designed to spark early‑stage exploration, the GKN Fund equips faculty teams with seed support to pursue bold ideas, build sustainable global networks, and advance multidisciplinary research that drives academic excellence, societal benefit, and future external funding opportunities.

The Asian Science and Technology Pioneering Institutes of Research and Education (ASPIRE) is a consortium comprising HKUST, Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Nanyang Technological University, and Tsinghua University. It aims to form a hub for innovation in Asia through the advancement of science and technology and the development of human resources, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable world.
