HKUST collaborates with leading overseas institutions that complement its strengths and research and academic priorities. The University also actively engages with higher education leaders in key regional and international networks to advance innovation and address the challenges and opportunities of today.
Key Collaborations Led by the Office of VPRD
The HKUST-MIT Research Alliance Consortium aims to build the network and mechanisms required for R&D collaboration between world-class universities and leading technology companies through industry-driven pre-competitive research. The four research clusters aim to address critical and relevant problems globally, namely Internet of Things for intelligent buildings and transportation, data science and e-learning, advanced manufacturing and biomedical systems.
The Asian Science and Technology Pioneering Institutes of Research and Education (ASPIRE) is a consortium comprising HKUST, Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Nanyang Technological University, and Tsinghua University. It aims to form a hub for innovation in Asia through the advancement of science and technology and the development of human resources, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable world.
HKUST and the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO formed a partnership in 2018 to jointly develop quality Eurasian business case studies, which merge academic concepts with real-world business challenges and opportunities faced by leaders and managers.
